In this post, we will discuss what’s new with the Process Builder in Salesforce Lightning. And I’m pretty sure, that once you are done reading it, you won’t be able to contain your excitement.
What is Salesforce Lightning Process Builder?
Salesforce Lightning Process Builder is the new improved Workflow creator in which you can create each process as a virtual flowchart. It is a combination of both workflow rules and approvals. So basically, with it, you will be able to create multiple workflows, run them through different conditions, get the approvals for each, and then subsequently get a single result.
In short, once you configure your Salesforce Lightning Process Builder you will able to:
Create and update each process flow with simple point and click
Combine multiple workflows in a single process flow
Collaborate with your team and create processes
Schedule actions to be done automatically on occurrence
Call for actions like submitting a record for approval or a publisher action quickly
Automate daily tasks without Apex code
Depending upon your Salesforce usage, you can also configure the Process Builder to do a lot more for you.
Impressed? Well then, check out this video on how Lightning Process Builder works:
Features of Salesforce Lightning Process Builder
The Lightning Process Builder comes with a visual designer. With the designer, you can simplify complex processes by combining one or more workflows. So instead of having 5-10 workflows to perform an automation, now you need just one.
The interaction between workflows is yet another interesting feature. You can define different triggers within the Process builder (much like conditional criteria) to perform a particular process. The trigger allows you to set the type of interactions you would prefer with each workflow and in turn, set a series of actions to perform the same.
Now, it’s time for some hands-on experience on the Lightning Process Builder. This Whatfix flow will show you how to start creating your process.

Why should you use it?
If the above reasons weren’t enough, then here are a few more:
Previously, to automate a process, you would have to write Apex codes. And for that, you need assistance from a developer. The developer would build the process, test it and then deploy it. But with the Lightning Process Builder, you can automate these processes by yourself easily. And all of that can be done, regardless of your coding background.
It gives you the ability to streamline all your processes with conditions. For eg, with the Process Builder, you can set condition for: –
Automating the process of records from creation to submission.
Onboarding process for new employees
Setting notifications for when a task is due.
Setting reminders for following up with your leads.
Integrating external solutions with your Salesforce process.
The flexible design of the Process Builder allows you to track, maintain and modify your business processes over the time. So as your business grows, you can modify the existing process to fit a newer strategy.
